Why do I want to become a Guru?

Why do I want to be a Guru you ask? Well, there are many reasons!

I love helping people - in all of my years on my career path, my biggest take away is that I have been placed on this earth to help. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family, and my parent's instilled this ethic in me at a very early age - as well as the importance of providing only the best when it comes to customer service. After years of account management, which had a helping element to it, I needed to get back into service - whether it be helping my clients to feel less stressed, or working my position at the Inn From The Cold Shelter - I am at one with myself when I am lending a helping hand.

I love working from home. In the past year I started my own business where I work remotely for most of my clients. In doing this I have learned that I thrive in my home office. Never have I had such high output, my creativity flows, my soul feels good, and I feel very accomplished. I have searched for remote employee positions, but haven't found any that piqued my interest...until now.

I have worked in many settings, in many industries, in many roles - something I have taken away from all of these experiences is that a company is built on its culture. I have been sold on a company so many times in interviews, only to start and see that the culture they sold me on was an illusion. In researching Shopify employee experiences, I can see that this isn't a sales pitch. Shopify wants it employees to grow, and supports them so they are able to professionally and personally. The internet is an amazing thing - being able to see anonymous employee reviews for employers is so valuable. Of course, there are some negatives, Shopify isn't small - everyone's experience is their own - but overall, I am seeing a consistent positive tone.

This week I prepare for The Gauntlet. I feel nervous and excited, as well as a bit honored to have the opportunity to get a peek at something that I feel could be the ultimate opportunity for me. Im not going to lie, the perks that go along with the role are pretty exceptional - housekeeping? Yes please!

I look forward to this experience, and seeing where it might take me.......maybe on the Guru team for 2016?
